1 x hot dog with Dominican sauerkraut, included

OK, so we’ll start with a little bit of back story on this hot dog. I am at a wedding in the Dominican Republic. We are here for a week at an all-inclusive resort. So all the food is paid for and you can get drinks at any hour of the night. However, at 2am, the pickings get rather slim. For instance, the nice bar, the one with the mid-shelf booze, closes at midnight. So at this point in the evening, after we’ve exhausted our patience for late-night ping pong, someone has discovered that the Blue Lagoon bar down by the water has hot dogs and beer.

I know this is a bad idea. I know it, but I go through with it anyway. I pulled the dog out of that murky, lukewarm water and put it in the oversized bun. And to that I add the creative Dominican attempt at sauerkraut that is shredded cabbage floating in vinegar. Even you know that this is a bad idea. The only redeeming qualities of this dog seem to lay in its potential for absorbing alcohol, and really, I’m not all that drunk, so it’s a few bites and out with this fellow.

1 x Pearl’s All Beef, grilled with Andrew’s BBQ sauce and some sort of fancypants apple peach chutney

It’s my birthday, and since I get to choose the menu, we’re eating hot dogs. We found some Pearl’s at the Roche Bros. in Mashpee, so that pretty much sealed the deal. Since we have most of the consultants here on the Cape, we figured it was time to flex those creative muscles again. We found some lovely apple peach chutney that we thought would go great on a nice BBQed dog. Andrew handled the BBQ sauce which was a mix of some Stubb’s BBQ sauce (original), some grape jelly, and maybe some ketchup. They were totally delicious and wowed all in attendance.
