Papaya Dog, Manhattan, NYC

1 x dog with everything and a papaya juice

papaya

This was my first papaya dog. There are a bunch of places in NYC that serve papaya dogs. There’s no papaya in the dog, they just give you some papaya juice with it. That’s all. There are a couple of legendary establishments like Papaya King and Papaya Somethingorother. Papaya Dog (the “restaurant”) is really just an offshoot capitalizing on the popularity of those other papaya places. It’s all very confusing I suppose. Anyway, I can’t say the dog was really incredible or anything, but it was also 3:00 in the morning, so pretty much anything would have hit the spot at that point. It was pretty cheap, so I guess it had that going for it. They had some sweet onions on it too that were nice and tasty. The papaya juice was nothing extraordinary. I’d hold off on this one in favor of some of the more established papaya places in the area.

Ed’s Shed, Norwood, MA

1 x dog with Coleman’s mustard and some red pepper relish

I was at my parent’s house for an Ed’s Shed concert. As usual Dad was at the grill. The hamburgers were pretty overcooked, but the dogs were all right. I dressed one up with some Coleman’s and relish. This was my first Coleman’s experience. It’s a pretty fine mustard. It cuts out all the bullshit. It’s yellow and hot. It’s for a real hot dog eating badass like myself.
