1 and 1/2 Margarita Dogs

This hot dog was the first really successful creation of the Hot Dog Consulting Company. Georg gets credit for a great concept, and the team really pulled together to aid in the execution. This was served as the main dinner course on the second night of our Classy Weekend Binge on the Cape. Of course, many bottles of fine alcohol were around for the party, and Georg was inspired by some of the excellent margaritas that were being mixed up.

The proprietary sauce consisted of some 1800 tequila, Grand Marnier, and fresh lime, all mixed in a ketchup base. We used some leftover Karl’s nitrate-free dogs, and Andrew dutifully brushed the sauce on the dogs while cooking them on the propane grill. As always, he toasted those New England style split-tops with skill, and just before serving, Georg added some extra sauce to nicely highlight this dog’s excellent flavor pairings. It was consumed without additional condiments and loved by all. Truly magnificent. Could this be the hot dog of the summer?
